Portland City United Soccer Club is excited to announce that we are joining the Elite Clubs National League Regional League (ECNL Boys RL) for the upcoming 2025/26 season!

This is a prominent step forward for our club, our players and community, offering our athletes unparalleled opportunities for growth, exposure and development.

As a member of the ECNLRegional League, our U13-19 Boys first teams will have the chance to compete with some of the top clubs in the region. The league will include both regular season conference games and cross-conference events, and qualifying teams will advance to the ECNL RegionalLeague Post Season event, held in conjunction with the ECNL Boys Post Season. The league’s matches and events are integral for players to continue their development, be accounted for collegiate opportunities, and be identified for potential participation in US Soccer youth national team programing.

“The ECNL was founded in 2009 as a challenge to the status quo of youth soccer, with a vision to the better. As a result of grassroot collaboration and innovation driven by youth soccer leaders all around the country, the ECNL quickly rose to national prominence and ultimately to be the top level of competition and player development in the country. Each step was fueled by a shared commitment to elevating the youth soccer experience,” says Jason Kutney, Boys Commissioner for ECNL.

PCU’s decision to join the league aligns with our mission to provide the highest level of competition and training and our dedication to helping our players reach their full potential both on and off the field.

FAQ:

What is ECNL RL?

The Elite Clubs National League - Regional League (ECNL-RL) is the second tier of the ECNL which provides a competitive platform for soccer clubs and players at a regional level, offering a pathway to potentially reach the national ECNL competitions; essentially, it's a way for teams to compete at a high level within their geographic area while still being part of the ECNL structure.

ECNL Boys was founded in 2017, setting the stage for an amazing period of rapid growth, increasing quality and further change in youth soccer. Starting with 57 of the top boys clubs in the country, the creation of the Boys ECNL once again demonstrated how a total commitment to improving the experience of players, coaches, clubs, and the environment in which they develop, can change everything.

Today, the ECNL represents the epitome of excellence in youth soccer, as the league and its clubs, players, coaches, and everyone involved seeks to constantly "Raise the Game" for the future.

What is the cost to participate?

Team Expenses are separate from your player’s Club Fee and are payable directly to the player's team, collected by the Coach and/or Team Manager. Team Fees cover such things as tournaments, travel and/or extra team activities. These fees are divided amongst the participating players (i.e. there is no set fee, as each team participates in different tournaments, leagues and activities).
We anticipate participating players ECNL RL fees to be similar in cost to NW Conference Pro.
